China's photovoltaic industry has entered a period of high-quality development

At present, China has become the world leader in solar power generation, with a series of crowns such as the world's largest photovoltaic power generation industry chain cluster, the largest application market, the largest investment country, the most invention and application patents, and the largest product exporter.China's photovoltaic industry has entered a period of high-quality development

Photovoltaic power generation has become one of China's "national business cards." According to data provided by the China Photovoltaic Industry Association, in 2018, 38% of all newly installed capacity in China was solar power. In the first ten months of this year, polysilicon output reached 276,000 tons, an increase of 34.6% year-on-year; silicon wafer output reached 113.7GW, increased 46.1%; the total output of battery cells reached 93.3GW, a year-on-year increase of 54.2%. As of the first three quarters of 2019, the cumulative installed capacity of photovoltaics in China has reached 190GW, which will reach 200GW by the end of this year. In 2018, China's photovoltaic power generation volume was about 180 billion kWh, an increase of 50% year-on-year, and the photovoltaic power generation utilization rate exceeded 96%. In the first three quarters of this year, the gross domestic photovoltaic power generation amounted to 171.5 billion kWh, a year-on-year increase of 28%.

Although solar energy has been used by humans for electricity generation for only decades. However, due to its renewable, permanent, zero emissions, zero noise, green and clean, absolute safety, and abundant features, it has become one of the fastest-growing industries in recent years and will also be the main source of electricity for humanity in the future.China's photovoltaic industry has entered a period of high-quality development

The McKinsey Global Institute has compared the innovation capabilities of China and the United States, saying that China has gradually taken the lead in global clean energy technology, and its photovoltaic industry is in an absolute leading position. The report issued by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) also shows that China's photovoltaic power generation increased by nearly 700 times during the 10 years to 2018, and the global photovoltaic power generation increased by 33 times during the same period. China's pulling power contributed greatly.

Since 2013, China's new PV installed capacity has ranked first in the world for six consecutive years, and in 2017 exceeded 50% of the global new installed capacity. In 2017, China's photovoltaic industry output value exceeded 500 billion yuan, accounting for more than 70% of the global share.

China's photovoltaic power generation already has the foundation for technology accumulation and industrial chain system upgrade to higher quality, which will enable China's photovoltaic industry to shift from pursuing scale and speed effects, fighting price wars to a new era of pursuing quality and efficiency, and relying on technological innovation to enhance core competitiveness. The photovoltaic industry has become a strategic emerging industry participating in international competition and will play a more important role in the future development of the energy industry in China and the world.

According to the latest data from the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the world's photovoltaic power generation has leaped from 135.76GW in 2013 to 480.36GW in 2018. In just 5 years, it has grown more than 3.5 times, an amazing growth rate. Data from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the People's Republic of China shows that the current production of China's photovoltaic industry chain, including polysilicon, silicon wafers, batteries, modules(solar junction box, MC connector, solar cable set), inverters and other major photovoltaic products has ranked first in the world for many years, and the production scale globally accounts for more than 50%. Among them, silicon wafers account for more than 83% of global production.

Photovoltaic power generation is likened to green wealth because its stable income model has been selected as one of the top ten projects for precision poverty alleviation in China. China has a sudden rise in the field of solar photovoltaic and become a global leader in renewable green energy, which has not only put China on a sustainable and healthy development track but also accumulated valuable experience in the development path of global governance.

Chinese photovoltaic products have gained more and more overseas market share with cost, quality and brand advantages. From January to October 2019, the national photovoltaic product exports reached a new high. According to statistics, the total export of silicon wafers, battery chips, and modules(solar junction box, MC connector, solar cable set, and solar PV junction box) reached the US $ 17.74 billion, a year-on-year increase of 32.3%. It is estimated that the total export in 2019 will exceed 20 billion US dollars. Among them, the export volume of modules increased by 39.6%, and the shipment volume reached about 58GW, an increase of 75% year-on-year.

Chinese photovoltaic companies actively participate in the construction of photovoltaic projects in countries along the “Belt and Road”. By the end of 2018, 7937 MW of photovoltaic projects were under construction and planned to be built by Chinese companies in the form of equity investments in countries along the “Belt and Road”. At present, Chinese photovoltaic companies have set up factories in nearly 20 international or regional regions, and their products have been exported to nearly 200 countries or regions worldwide.

Solar photovoltaic power generation will become the main source of world energy supply in the near future. It is estimated that by 2030, solar photovoltaic power generation will account for more than 10% of the world's total electricity supply; by 2040, solar photovoltaic power generation will account for more than 20% of total electricity; by the end of the 21st century, renewable energy in the energy structure will account for more than 80%, and solar power generation will account for more than 60%.
